Birthday in Bled

Lucky enough to celebrate my 64th Birthday in Lake Bled. Gary reminded me as to how old that actually is by sending me a rendition of The Beatles song! Thanks so much to those who sent messages from Home.

Awoke to a beautiful day and walked to the Bike Hire. The path around the Lake is truly beautiful and Bled was much less crowded today. Tony LOVED his ebike! Stopped for lots of photo opportunities and just to enjoy the day. We took the local boat ride to the island and admired the fitness of the rowers as they sometimes had 14 people in their boats. After a lovely lunch on a balcony we decided to visit the castle. Steep ride and walk up to the entrance...unless you are in a tour bus. My impression was that the castle had become one large cafe restaurant, but if you looked hard you found the small informative museum.

Time to return the bike and prepare for our meal at a restaurant recommended by our BnB host. It was situated in a garden setting and specialised in local produce and wine. A truly delightful evening with lovely food and ambiance. A great day.
