BucharestDayTwo

A pleasant day to go for a stroll. Having got our bearings yesterday on the bus we headed for a couple of museums close by. After a decadent coffee and cake, we met a lovely lady in a gallery who was happy to talk to us bout the complicated history of Romania. Next was the National Museum of History where the details were made clearer. The highlight here was a replica...in pieces ...of the massive Trajan  Column that is actually in the Forum at Rome. Emporer Trajan conquered and basically destroyed the Dracia people of the Romanian area in 106AD and then bragged about it on this massive column.

After a pleasant lunch in the historic area we returned to the hotel in time for our first briefing with the motorbike tour company and our first meeting with our fellow bikers. 10 bikes and 16 participants. The briefing took 2 hours but our guide Nicko is a great communicator. We were all well drilled on safety and quirky conditions of this area.  We then bundled into a group of taxis for a jovial dinner in an open air restaurant.
Tomorrow we head south to Brasov. The motorbikes are all parked directly in front of this large hotel. Hopefully no embarrassing moments when we take off on unfamiliar bikes!!! K x
