Busy Bled

Seriously, I have always avoid going OS in the European summer holidays. At the same time, I have often commented ," How busy would this place be in the summer time!!" Well, now I know. Bloody busy!

We needed to book an ebike so therefore that will wait until tomorrow. Decided to catch a shuttle to Vintgar Gorge. All was easy till we reached the crowded car park and saw the queue to buy your National Park entry. Forty-five minutes later we reached the lone ticket booth lady who was sharing the till with the kiosk lady selling drinks etc. All of those 5 euros tickets were obviously not going towards the improvement in the infrastructure. The gorge itself was very pretty and the roaring river made for dramatic pictures. At the end of our one hour walk we treated ourselves to the traditional cake of the area that EVERYONE advertises.

Returning to Bled we found a charming restaurant for a light meal before wandering to the toboggan run. We had seen it yesterday, running down a winter ski run. Once again the wait in the queue was looooooong. The view from the top of the run was a reward for the wait and the ride itself was pretty cool!

MANY people wandering the town on this sunny Sunday and a continual rumble of tour buses. Found a terrace bar for our evening aperitif and then back to the unit to cook out last home cooked meal for a while.

The queue was the same length when we finished our walk. Can you spot me?

A dodgem-car walk, but it was pretty.

THAT cake!

Admittedly not us, but this is what we did. Couldn't hold a camera too!

This is how we saw it the day before.

  1. Lovely photo of you two with the special cake. It looks good too. And the toboggan ride looks worth all the queuing. Enjoying your blog very much.
