Our comfortable sleep was rudely interrupted by what sounded like 5 tonnes of glass being tipped by the garbage people at 5.45am!
After an amazing buffet brekky, it was time to wander to the station and catch our train to Verona. 1 1/2 hrs later we arrived. Beautiful sunny day. We caught a bus to the town centre and had coffee and cake in view of the 2000 yr old Roman amphitheatre. We then caught a taxi to a our BnB apartment and met Roberto. Lana is delighted with this 2 level abode with its exposed brick walls and old wooden features.
Time to track down the Romeo and Juliet Balcony. Considering the play is a complete fiction, the hype around this attraction is great for Verona tourism but a sad reflection on the gullability of humans. The crowd in the tiny courtyard and the 1000's of messages adhered to the walls were indeed a "sight."
After a simple but tasty lunch in another more quiet enclave, we decided to finish the Juliet thing by visiting "her tomb." It was fun twisting and turning through the tiny streets to reach the museum/old convent. Based around some far-fetched assumptions, the sarcophagus in the cellar is another tidy money-earner. Sad but true.
Time to buy some supplies and take our weary feet home. Verona is an appealing city with many ancient sites to explore. That will be tomorrow's plan.
The amphitheatre is 2000 yrs old. Not sure about the centurion!
By far the most crowded place in Verona, at the base of The Balcony
Cathedral-shaped pasta???
Enjoying a light lunch.

Same early morning call for me in Fierenze!
