To Bucharest and then Barcelona.

Last day on the bikes. Morning was spent wending our way through the quiet but long, Romanian rural villages. There were Saturday morning strollers, cyclists rolling to the little stores, neighbours having a chat.  I noted that there are many well maintained and even newly built, Orthodox Churches. Also more of those 2 or 3 storey newly built mansions. Melon stalls were replaced by grapes and peaches.  More shepherds with goats or cows in this vast rural stretch.  Another ubiquitous drab major town, and another special find by Nicko for lunch. The benefits of going with someone who knows the ropes.
The afternoon was a VERY QUICK sprint of 124 kms to Bucharest. I think the boys were having their final play. I just held on and didn’t look at the speedo.   Back into the familiar wide and green boulevards of Bucharest. Primoz and the hotel staff greeted us with welcoming champagne. All back safe and sound.  Final farewells and hugs at the last dinner.
Tony and I were up at 5.45 am for the 8.30 am flight to Barcelona.  We thought that our unexpected upgrade to Business Class was compensation for the debacle when we first arrived and the computer system crashed. However, the 1 hr 15 minutes to get through the Spanish passport control removed any warm fuzzy feelings.
Easy taxi to our Airbnb. Apartment was in the middle of being cleaned so we adjourned to the wide streets fo lunch. We can see Gaudi’s spires from our window. Very residential here, so there were many Sunday strollers, dogs, families. Such an obedient dog waiting for his master!  I did two loads of washing in preparation for our next bike trip starting Thursday. Lovely to have cheese, tomato and ham on toast for tea.
Tomorrow we intend to have a lazy rise and maybe go and see something!
Ps. There IS a lift. 🤗
