DayFourBB To Korcula

Still a little grey in the morning, but the wind had dropped and the sun shone in the afternoon. Hooray!!

We were now able to sail away from Hvar. From now on the tour should be on schedule. Korcula Island was the next destination. It would take us nearly 5 hrs, so plenty of time to do some washing and catch up on blog etc. Yummy stuffed capsicum for lunch and then we pulled into the tiny port of Racisce and disembarked. Half hour later the 30 bikes were on shore and we were riding to the end of the island to a popular small cove...with sand!..and a bar. We went via the town of Korcula, to where we would return in the evening.

This is what we had come for; sun shining, turquoise sea, boats bobbing, smooth roads, few cars, vineyards.

At the cove we spoke to an Irish girl who was in Croatia for a week to attend a wedding in Dubrovnik. Seems the trend for OS weddings in Europe is similar to Oz, just different destinations.

After dinner on the boat, we walked to Korcula and the group divided into two, English or German speakers, and we were taken on a city walking tour with our respective guides.

Certainly an attractive stone city with a turbulent history, characteristic of this entire area.

A local dry white wine had been recommended so we found a modern bar where the waiter obligingly gave us a history of the wine. A most pleasant way to finish a very enjoyable day.

Disembarking at Racisce. That's our boat.

Riding into Korcula.

Small roads through the vineyards.

Drinks on the boat before dinner.

Preparing for a Baroque Concert inside the walls of Korcula.

  1. The boat looks lovely. I like the polished timber. Pretty towns too.
