Quebec First Wander
Rug up early and walk 2 mins to the Couche-Tard to buy a weekly bus ticket and conveniently the bus-stop is there too. Heather had booked a brunch in a revolving restaurant with a commanding view over the city. We decided to go early to get a start on some downtown wandering. It was colder than yesterday but still manageable. We noticed a change in architecture from Halifax and Boston. As a sign of the times, three majestic churches were either boarded up or serving another purpose.
Ascending to the 26th floor of the Concorde Hotel, we started our brunch at the appropriately named "Ciel" ( sky!) restaurant. Besides the food, this experience was a terrific orientation to the city. As a bonus, our young waitress was happy to answer
all of our questions.
Finishing early in the afternoon, we strolled down to the Musée des Beaux Arts and passed a couple of hours combining very modern art with the more traditional, adding to our understanding of early Quebecois history along the way.
After utilising the services of the lovely Café at Le Musée and the usual 4pm dusk was starting, we headed for home. Earlier we had come across La Rue Cartier, a Chapel St equivalent. Upon our return to the street, the lights were beginning to make an impact. Heather decided that the traditional French Christmas Cake, La Büche de Noêl need to be purchased for our indulgence on Christmas Day. It has been carefully placed in the fridge.
Easy 15mins bus ride back to our "Home." I made a bolognaise while The Girls attended to their communication devices.
